SUNPOW is a brand of metal detectors, pinpointers and garden hose reels, sold on Amazon, known for its rechargeable metal detector.
We keep detecting simple enough for a first Saturday and sturdy enough for the seasons that follow. 17 products, four categories, one name since 2013.
Where it started
A detector with the shovel already in the box
The SUNPOW name first went on metal detectors in October 2013. Many of our detectors still arrive as a kit, with a shovel, a bag and on some models headphones in the box, so the first hunt can start the day the box arrives.
The mark belongs to Hangzhou Sunpow E-Commerce Co., Ltd., based in Hangzhou, China, which registers it in the United States. Detectors are still the center of the range.
The path
Four dates from the trademark register
- 2013
October 24 is the first recorded use of the SUNPOW mark in commerce, on metal detectors, as stated in our U.S. trademark file.
- 2017
SUNPOW gets its first U.S. registration on August 1, No. 5,256,272, for sporting goods and fitness gear.
- 2022
On April 1 we file the SUNPOW mark for metal detectors, the line that has carried the name since 2013.
- 2024
Registration No. 7,411,086 for metal detectors issues on June 11. Two more SUNPOW registrations follow on November 26.

Seal what gets wet
Every SUNPOW search coil and pinpointer wand is rated IP68. The control box stays in your hand, above the water.
Charge it like a phone
Our newer detectors and pinpointers carry lithium batteries with USB-C or Type-C charging, up to 35 hours per charge.
Size it for the person
Kids' stems start at 23.6 in, adult stems reach past 55 in, and the family model adjusts between the two without tools.
Say what it will not do
We put the limits next to the features, starting with the control box: it is not waterproof on any SUNPOW detector.
We would rather you find one coin today than read about a hundred.
